The focus of this workshop is on understanding the physics of biological systems and biologically inspired model systems. The workshop will bring together contributors who use a variety of methods, from single-molecule experiments, to advanced microscopies, to large-scale computer simulations, to study time-dependent phenomena involving biomolecules and their assemblies. Specific topics covered by the workshop include (but are not limited to) molecular motors, biological membranes, and computational methods that bridge the time-scale gap between simulations and experiments. Particular emphasis will be placed on the interface between simulations/theory and experimental studies and so equal participation by experimentalists and theorists is expected
Organizers:
Frank Brown (Dept. of Chemistry & Biochemistry, UC Santa Barbara)
Dmitrii E. Makarov (Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry UT Austin)
Omar Saleh (Materials Dept. and Biomolecular Science & Engineering Program, UC Santa Barbara)
If you are interested in attending a meeting, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer about availability before registering. Most TSRC meetings are very small, typically only about 25 people.
