The impact of aerosol particles from anthropogenic and natural sources on clouds and cloud effects on aerosol is a large source of uncertainty in our ability to predict the present climate. It is a multifaceted problem that necessitates laboratory studies, observations in the ambient atmosphere and model simulations from the molecular scale to the global scale. This workshop will bring together new avenues of work by scientists in this field with complementary backgrounds including but not limited to: cloud microphysics and dynamics, ice nucleation, aerosol activation, and aerosol chemistry and microphysics. In each of these areas we strive to bring together experimentalists and modellers. The schedule will be coordinated to allow for exploring connections amongst all participants.
We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in attending, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.
Workshop price includes two group lunches in addition to morning breakfasts and the all-Telluride Science picnic on Wednesday evening.
Telluride Science is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think. All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the workshop. Scientists are encouraged to consider bringing family or friends. Telluride offers a number of options for children's camps (including Telluride Academy, Ah Haa School for the Arts, and Pinhead Institute). There is more information on childcare, camps, and family activities on Telluride Science's website at https://www.telluridescience.org/travel/families. Please contact Cindy Fusting at cindy@telluridescience.org for more information.
