The purpose of the proposed workshop is to discuss new advances in understanding the molecular properties of complex systems, including macromolecules of biological and synthetic origin. The workshop will bring together experts in theory, simulations, and experiment on complex systems in the liquid phase.
Some of the problems we would like to cover include ongoing challenges in understanding the behavior of synthetic polymer melts, mixtures, blockcopolymers, membranes, protein-nucleic acid complexes and other bio-molecular machines. We intend to examine the application of new experimental, theoretical and computational approaches to these problems, such as novel spectroscopic methods, coarse-graining and multi-scale modeling, quantum chemical modeling and computation, and recent advances in bridging disparate time scales. This meeting should take place during the year alternating with the Telluride Workshop on Polymer Physics and the one on the Chemistry and Dynamics in Complex Environments, as there could be some overlap with the themes and some of the speakers of those workshops.
