Organizations that have expressed an interest in SOFI Membership are invited to a private launch event, organized and facilitated by the Telluride Science Research Center, in Telluride, CO. The goals of this meeting are to 1) develop strategies for creating a SOFI "Knowledge Map," a living navigation/networking/knowledge tool that will show the state of the science, the potential scientific and technological pathways to achieve our mission, and help drive who should be working on what, where; 2) finalize the governance structure of SOFI, e.g. reach consensus on establishing the Scientific Steering Committee and the Board of Governors composition; 3) determine beneficial administrative relationships; 4) identify intellectual property issues facing SOFI and develop guidelines for addressing them; 5) design a business strategy including capitalization plans; and 6) prepare a consensus draft of the Memorandum of Understanding among the initial SOFI members.
