This Enzyme Dynamics workshop will bring together researchers from a diverse range of backgrounds who study the role of dynamics in enzymatic catalysis. Topics would include: the time scale(s) of functionally important motions and their relationship to enzymatic catalysis, the energy landscape of enzymes and the sampling of that landscape as it relates to the catalyzed reaction, hydrogen tunneling, the formation of the transition state and development of transition state theory, ground state vs transition state dynamics and their relationship to function, allostery, natively unstructured proteins, and the influence of water on protein dynamics. We expect to attract researchers with a wide range of expertise who bring a number of different techniques to bear on these problems including: computation and the theory, vibrational spectroscopy, NMR spectroscopy, kinetics and kinetic isotope effects, time-resolved spectroscopies, and traditional enzymology. Some of these researchers are already well acquainted and are very familiar with the work going on in this area, but we also hope to attract researchers whose work is relevant and related but who work on the periphery of this field.
