The interface between theory, computer simulation, and experiment is critical for the understanding of biological membranes and membrane proteins. This workshop will involve a diverse group of experimentalists and
theoreticians who are committed to obtaining a molecular-level understanding of important topics in membrane biophysics such as lipid bilayer structure and dynamics, domain formation, and membrane transport, as well as membrane-protein interactions and membrane protein structure/assembly. The importance of this topic can be seen from the large number of leading investigators in the field who have attended two prior workshops organized
on this topic, as well as an earlier one organized in Mesilla, New Mexico in 2001. For the last two, see:

It is proposed that this ongoing series of workshop now be moved to Telluride, to be held every other year, beginning in June 2009. About 30 scientists are expected to participate. Many of the likely invitees can be seen from the past meeting programs posted in the URLs above. This workshop
will also build upon the increasing presence of biophysics at Telluride, helping to make it a "must go" venue for this important field every summer.
