This summer school, aimed at graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, addresses the use of stochastic methods of treating electronic structure of complex materials. Both methods that operate in position space as well as those where the sampling is done in configuration space will be considered.
The format will include lectures followed by practical exercises (in the Python language), which will help the students understand how the key algorithms work.

STUDENT APPLICATION HERE: https://www.telluridescience.org/schools/telluride-school-stochastic-approaches-electronic-structure-calculations
We anticipate that the school will have ~20 students (graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and more senior researchers) who are interested in learning about stochastic electronic structure methods. We also anticipate having ~10 lecturers/facilitators (i.e., the individuals who will present lectures as well as those would assist in the exercises).
APPLYING: This school is intended for Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows interested in learning about stochastic approaches to electronic structure problems
The "Application Window" for the school opens October 15, 2016. All applications must be submitted by February 1, 2017. We will inform you by email no later than February 25, 2017, whether or not you have been admitted.
Your application and registration are two different processes. If you are accepted, you then register at www.telluridescience.org/registration to prepay for registration and lodging. Registration for accepted applicants must be completed by March 3, 2017.
We have raised funds that allow us to cover most of the registration fee. You will need to pay only a $90 registration fee. We also expect to be able to reimburse participants for up to $250 for travel. Successful applicants will be informed of the procedure for partial reimbursement for travel in the acceptance letter. Keep in mind that the registration and lodging fees will not be refunded or reimbursed if you cancel your participation after March 31, 2017.
We hope that some of the students will stay on an extra week to attend the workshop as well. Most of the lecturers/facilitators would attend both events.
