This workshop will provide a forum for presentation, discussion, and collaboration leading to frontier developments pertaining to interfacial chemical processes. These processes are broadly defined to include those occurring at both molecular and macroscopic interfaces, such as solid-liquid-vapor interfaces, the solvation-shells of ions, molecules, nano-particles, biological macromolecules and mesoscopic assemblies. The focus of this meeting is on understanding, predicting, and utilizing ways in which the molecular and electronic properties of such interfaces differ from those of bulk materials. This workshop is expected to highlight current experimental and theoretical debates and challenges concerning the distribution of both ions and other species at the interface, including hydrated electrons, the charge of air-water and oil-water interfaces, the affinity of various atomic and molecular ions for such interfaces, and solute-solvent charge transfer and its influence on the thermodynamics and spectroscopic observables.
We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in participating, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.
TSRC is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think.
The Virtual Workshop fee of $200 also allows for complimentary access to the Virtual Live Lecture Series.
