POSTPONED TO 2022 – Single Molecule Workshop: Theory Meets Experiment
06/28/2020 - 07/02/2020
Meeting Description:

Single-molecule/single-cell experiments are becoming increasingly popular as the preferred method for probing complex molecular phenomena, in particular those inherent in living systems and heterogeneous materials. Uncovering the underlying dynamics from such experimental signals presents a major challenge and is the subject of much recent experimental and theoretical effort. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together contributors in the fields of single-molecule spectroscopy, single-molecule/cell force spectroscopy, single-cell imaging, and single-molecule theory to discuss recent advances in these fields, with a particular focus on issues at the interface between experiment and simulation/theory. This year, our workshop will highlight the following topics:

1) Fluctuation theory, detailed balance, non-equilibrium thermodynamics

2) Chemical kinetics, enzymatic networks, gene networks, cell cycles

3) Data analysis, statistics, information entropy

4) DNA and other biopolymers, molecular motors, cytoskeletons, cell mechanics

5) Single-molecule photophysics, photon statistics

Notes:

The registration fee includes breakfast on each workshop day. There is also a catered picnic on Wednesday night.

We wish to ensure an intimate workshop setting, with no more than 20 to 25 participants. If you are interested in attending, but have not received an invitation, please contact the workshop organizer before registering.

TSRC is about expanding the frontiers of science, exploring new ideas, and building collaborations. The workshop schedule will allow for substantial unstructured time for participants to talk and think. All participants are expected to stay for the entire duration of the workshop. Scientists are encouraged to consider bringing family or friends. Telluride offers a number of options for children's camps (including Telluride Academy, Ah Haa School for the Arts, and Pinhead Institute). There is more information on childcare, camps, and family activities on TSRC's website at https://www.telluridescience.org/travel/families. Please contact Cindy Fusting at cindy@telluridescience.org for more information.
